Many years ago, there lived a farmer with his wife and a daughter. The girl was married in a different village. Their daughter was married for a long time now. Ever since the girl got married she didn’t come back to her parents which made the couple sad, worried and unhappy.
At her in-laws’ place, the mother-in-law's behaviour was not good. Because of which the daughter was depressed and upset. She used to cry alone in solitary confinement. She wanted to send a message to her parents but there was no one who could help her.She would spend her entire day in household works, working in the fields and bringing woods from the forests.
To keep her heart light and mind busy she would spend time talking to trees, birds and animals.
Even in the festivals, when the daughters of the village get together at their home and meet their families, the farmer and his wife wished to see their daughter . But the daughter was never granted a permission to visit her parents.
Once the daughter came to know that her mother was very sick, she started worrying so much that she wanted to meet her mother. She asked for permission from her mother-in-law to go further and see her mother. The mother-in-law assigned more than the daily work and said, "When this work is done then you can go to your parents house."
Even after half a day, the work could not be completed. She started to urge her mother-in-law. On several requests, the mother-in-law allowed her to go. She started going towards her maiden home. The evening also began to collapse. She started increasing her steps faster and walking speedily.
The girl was tired and reached her maiden home somehow. She saw that both her parents have become weak and lean. They looked ill and unhappy. The emotional girl on seeing her parents in this condition forgot her own pain and sufferings. She was merely concerned about her parents now.
Both the couple quietly started looking at their daughter. They used to keep their daughter with such love and affection, seeing her suffer in such a condition, they understood how she was kept in the in-laws house.
The girl’s eyes were filled with tears which rolled down her cheeks. She touched her sick mother and hugged her father. Even after seeing her tears, when there was no response from her mother and father, she started screaming in anger. They were both dead.
After a few days a Rhododendron (Buransh) tree grew in the same house, and the blossom flower grew on it. Now she used to visit that Rhododendron tree in every festival. Even today when the Rhododendron blossoms in the mountains, many daughters go to meet the Buransh. The daughters are extremely delighted and happy to see the beautiful Burash tree blooming and spreading happiness!!
